Event Coverage: SRMS Aug. 12 Autocross @AMR Karting Track

Street Racing Made Safe hosted their August 12th Autocross event at AMR Motorplex, a karting track across from Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The day starts at 8am when the gates open, pre-registered drivers pick up their wrist bands and head straight to the pit area to prep their cars. After a track walk and drivers meeting, the track goes hot.
SRMS Autocross format splits the drivers into 4 run groups. Each group has about 15-25 cars, once your group is up you line up to complete your 5 runs.

Since I was in the group #1, I didn't get any pictures from that group but I have video from my GoPro and Harry's Laptimer App of my first lap embedded below:

Aside from a bit of rain, it was a great event. Everyone I spoke to enjoyed the track layout and how easy it was to navigate. Those who frequent autocross events know one of the main challanges is figuring the track and most parking lot events only have pylons to direct drivers, but because AMR Motorplex is a karting facility, the track layout was lined with contrasting paint and barriers to make for an awesome and safe autocross course.

I look forward to participating in future events. Thank you to the hard working team that made this happen, I'm sure all of the driver's appreciate not having to juggle marshaling and driving.

I'll end with a few pictures I did capture to get once I broke out my camera in the afternoon as things started to dry up.
