Touge.ca has a special Go Karting event coming up this weekend at Mosport's Karting track. The event is taking place on Saturday September 18th, 2011 at 1pm. All equipment will be provided by Mosport International Karting which includes the karts (6.5 Honda engine, upto 50mph), tires, gas, helmets, pit crew and training all for a great low price of $139 pre-paid.
I consider this a step above an actual lapping day because all participants are in the same karts and only driver skill separates you from other drivers. I'm not sure of the format of the day or what time to training is provided, but it would be amazing if there was some type of race or non-signaled passing allowed. If I didn't already have prior commitments I would sign up for this awesome event. Sebastian Vettel the current and youngest F1 champion started kart racing at the age of 8 and won the Junior Monaco Kart Cup in 2001 and you may have already heard about the 11yr old Canadian National Champion in the Rotax Mini Max karting category, his name Lance Stroll and is from Montreal Canada. He was selected by Ferrari to join their academy which helps young drivers progress from karting through to Formula 1. Karting is where it all starts!
